Islanders Came To Play
Logan Walker had 4 points, and Mateo Sjoberg had 3, including the game winning goal, to propel the Islanders to a 1-0 series lead in the VIJHL South Quarter Finals.
Right from the opening puck-drop the Islanders made it clear they intend to win. And not just this game. They are out for the upset. Victoria spent the first two periods unable to get anything going. The Islander defence was stifling. Victoria only managed 14 shots combined in the 1st and 2nd periods. And that included 5 power plays.
The lone bright spot was Fraser Wyatt who made several all-star saves to keep the score at a meager 5-1 when it could have been 8-1 or worse.
Game 2 will need to be a turning point for the Cougars. If they keep this up they will make a very quick exit.
Kerry Park hosts game 2 on Saturday, 730pm.
