Victoria Cougars Partner with BW Hockey for 2025-26 Season

The Victoria Cougars Junior Hockey Club is proud to announce a new partnership with BW Hockey for the 2025-26 season. BW Hockey’s experienced coaching staff will be providing on-ice skills and development training to Cougars players, helping them elevate their game throughout the year.

BW Hockey has become a leader in player development on Vancouver Island, working with athletes from minor hockey all the way to the professional level. At the helm is founder Brandon Wong — a hockey player, coach, and trainer with a deep passion for the game and a wealth of experience at the sport’s highest levels.

Brandon’s love for hockey began at age five, playing road hockey and learning to skate with his family. That early passion grew into a remarkable playing career spanning Juniors, NCAA college hockey, and nine years of professional play across the NHL Training Camps, AHL, ECHL, KHL, and VHL.

A Victoria native, Brandon grew up playing in local arenas before embarking on a career that included stops with the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings), Hartford Wolfpack (New York Rangers), and Kunlun Red Star (KHL). His collegiate years saw him excel at Quinnipiac University, where he was a two-time Hobey Baker Award candidate, an All-American, and one of the top five goal scorers in the NCAA in 2006-07. Brandon also led the BCHL in goals and points in 2005-06 while playing for the Merritt Centennials. He attended the Vancouver Canucks Rookie Camp in 2008 and the Ottawa Senators Training Camp in 2015.

Over his 26 years in the game, Brandon has played in more than eight countries and worked extensively with players in both minor hockey and junior programs. He is known for his ability to mentor athletes, improve technical skills such as skating, passing, and shooting, and foster the hockey IQ needed for success.

The Cougars organization is excited to bring Brandon’s expertise and BW Hockey’s proven development approach to its players this season, reinforcing the team’s commitment to growth, performance, and long-term player success.
