Cougars Thump Predators

Writer note: There was no game story for the game against the Islanders. This was because I was not at the game and the Islanders had technical difficulties that prevented them from broadcasting. So I had no more information than the boxscores show. – Jordan

The Cougars welcomed the Saanich Predators into the Arch for the first time this season and it didn’t go well for the visitors. The game started fairly even, or slated in the Preds favour. Both teams dropped some good hits, solid scoring chances, and good puck movement.

That evenness did not last forever. Jackson Estey started the scoring parade at the 9:31 mark of the first. From that point on it was all Cougars. DeLay and Pang also grabbed markers to have the Cougars up 3-0 after 1. Brant added a pair separated by a Trey Anderson goal in the 2nd. Both Brant and Anderson collected their first goals of the season. In the 3rd Ethan Roworth collected a pair of goals to add to his 2 assists on the night on route to his Player of the Game nod.

Fraser Wyatt grabbed his first doughnut in the VIJHL and the Cougars finished with an 8-0 win over the Preds. Saanich faces Westshore Friday night and the Wolves may be on the receiving end of a Predator onslaught as they try and scrub tonights game from their memories.

The Cougars take on those same Wolves on Sunday. Maybe Saanich will soften them up a bit recovering from the thumping tonight.
