Cougars Dominate

Brody Johnston had 5 points and Jaxon Danilec had 2 goals and 1 assist in a 7-2 slugging of the Westshore Wolves in Victoria on Sunday.

The Cougars had dropped 2 in a row to the Wolves, both in extra time, and were looking to continue their solid February after a lackluster January.

Danilec opened the scoring in the 1st and got his 2nd of the game 10 minutes later with Zach Piche splitting the 2 Danilec goals. After joining the Cougars in December, the Prince George native, has tallied 7 goals and 4 assists in 11 games.

The Wolves managed to get on the board just 1:46 into the 2nd period with Nick Hovde getting his 6th of the year. The Cougars took it back but potting 3 more goals in the middle frame. Nathan Bouveur scored his 11th, even though Jaxon Danilec thought he scored and getting the hattrick. Fully celly and all. Jacob Pang extended his point streak to 4 games with his 25th goal of the year to round out the 2nd. Blake Bentham and Connor Delay traded goals in the 3rd.

Baring a complete and total collapse of the last 5 games and the Panthers winning out their remaining 5 games, the Cougars will finish on top of the South and will take on the Islanders in the 1st round of the VIJHL playoffs expected to kick off on the back half of the week of February 20th once the teams are finalized.
