A Winning Tradition Of Excellence

Cougars Are Back At It After 293 Days…

It was the first game in 293 days for both the Cougars and Panthers. On November 20th 2020 the league was forced to shut down due to COVID-19. Now these two long-time rivals are back at it.

It only took 5:18 for the Cougars to open the scoring on the new VIJHL season. Pang grabbed his first of two goals on the night and Ben Brant grabbed his first apple, of four total. The Cougars would go on to route the Panthers 9-3.

The Cougars dominated the opening minutes of the game only to have the Panthers shift the play heavily for a while. The score was 6-2 after 2, but that score was very unflattering as the game could have easily been 6-6 if not for the play of Jonah Chambers between the pipes for Victoria.

Both teams combined for 94 shots and 12 goals. A clear sign that both teams have work to do on the blue-line.

Four Cougars had multi-point nights, including both Brant brothers combining for six points.

Next up for Victoria is the back-half of the season opening home-and-home versus the Panthers. Friday at 730pm at Panorama Rec.
