The Cougars and Wolves had played 4 times so far this season with the Cougars leading the head-to-head 3-1.
It looked like the 5th game of the season between these two was going to be an easy Wolves win. They held a lot of the play for the first 40 minutes, and entered the 2nd intermission up 3-1. Westshore scored 43 seconds into the game and against 7 minutes later making the opening frame look bleak. Sideway scored on a nice pass and an even better shot from the goal line. Leik then scored at the 7 minute mark on a tip out front off the point shot. Ben Brant was able to add some hope to the game on the Cougars power play, rifling the puck over the glove of Edwards. Hovde regained that 2 goal lead late in the 2nd period after finding the smallest of holes in Chambers armour.
The 3rd period changed everything. The Cougars showed their scoring power and ability to control the game. It just took a few periods for it to come out in this particular game. Bouveur, Strange and Pivetta all scored less than 10 minutes apart to completely tip the game in the Cougars favour. Bouveur started the scoring after taking the feed from Ben Brant and skating through 3 Wolves before firing a laser beam over the blocker of Edwards. Then a few minutes later Strange tied the game on a beauty tip on the Estey shot. Again going high over the arms of Edwards. Pivetta would grab the last goal of the game and the game winner after the Wolves failed to exit their own zone on several occasions. A nice pass from behind the net and Pivetta was alone out front.
