A Little Extra Hockey

The Cougars kicked off the current campaign with back-to-back wins against the Panthers. One major difference between those two wins and the most recent game is Riley Braun. Braun, one-third of the top line in the league made a noticeable difference on Sunday afternoon. Clearly a powerhouse both with the puck and with the physical play.

It didn’t take long for that top line of Riley and his brother Payton to get on the board. Payton Braun grabbed his 10th of the year with Riley and Reid Fryer with the assists. This lead to a back and forth of goals in the 1st period. Braun, then Johnston with his 1st of the year, Seale, and then Bouveur to end the period at 2-2.

The Panthers jumped out to a 4-2 on the back of a Riley Braun goal and a Grant Gilbertson marker. The Cougars would then storm back with 3 unanswered goals to take a 5-4 lead late in the third. Grant Gilbertson would get his 2nd of the night at the 15:23 mark of the 3rd to tie the game and ultimately send it to Overtime for the first time for the Cougars.

It would only take 20 seconds for the Cougars to end the game. See it for your self. Also included is the post game with Brody Coulter.

Next up is the Bombers at home Thursday, 7pm.
