A Winning Tradition Of Excellence

17 Goals In 2 Games, Cougars On A 4 Game Streak

After a 9-2 thumping of the Kraken on Friday, the Cougars faced off against the bottom team in the Buccaneers.

The Bucs came into the game at 1-9-0-1 and with one new player. Kenny Boychuk was traded to Nanaimo on Saturday from the Cougars and didn’t need to wait long to face his former team.

Another former Cougar, Steven Reid, got the start for the Buccaneers between the pipes. Despite the final score, Reid played very well. Making a dozen sure goal stops to at least keep Nanaimo competitive early on.

The Cougars dominated a vast majority of the game outshooting the Bucs 53-22. With 7 different goal scorers the Cougars showed why they are 3rd in goals scored, but only have 2 players in the top 20 in overall points. They have 4 lines that can score and 3 of those 4 scored in this game alone.

The Cougars PP was the weak spot against the Bucs. Going 1/6 and not looking solid in 4 of those extra man opportunities.

The Cougars face the Islanders on Tuesday, and that will be a proper challenge compared to the last two games.
