Third Period Comeback, Almost.

Chase Heslop and AP James Joyce each had 3 point nights as the Buccaneers dropped the #1 Cougars 7-5 in Nanaimo last night. Joyce, a Ladysmith native, was in his 5th Junior game when he ripped 2 goals against the best team in the VIJHL.

The Cougars didn’t roll over and die though. Trailing 4-0 late into the 2nd, Victoria stormed back. Trey Anderson scored with 9 seconds to go in the 2nd, and after Joyce got his 1st of the game just 38 seconds into the 3rd the Cougars would score 4 unanswered goals to tie the game mid-way through the 3rd. Cam Lesergent grabbed a goal and 2 assists in those 4 Cougars goals.

Joyce would play spoiler. With 3:37 left he would get his 2nd of the game and the eventual game winner to throw the brakes on the come-back surge by the Cougars.

The Cougars play tonight against the #2 Panther for the last time in the regular season. Puck drop is 730pm at Panorama.
