The Cougars entered the game versus the Islanders on Saturday night playing their 3rd game in 3 nights. After losing against the Panthers last week, then again on Thursday, the Cougars were out for points. After downing the Braves in an anyone can win game in OT on Friday, that wasn’t an option on Saturday.
Davis Frank was one of a few heroes on the night. He got the scoring started at 10:01 of the 1st and the Cougars never looked back. After 1 period the Cougars were outshooting the Isles 15-6 and the Islanders would only get 6 more shots for the rest of the game. A never ending parade to the penalty box was the theme on the night.
The Islanders gave the Cougars lots of chances to score in the 2nd. On several power play chances the Cougars collected 2 goals with the man advantage. Frank got his second of the game and then assisted on another PP goal, this time Brown with the marker.
The 3rd saw complete domination from the visiting Cougars. 3 more goals, Frank with his hat-trick goal and another on the PP, Esposito with one, and then Guerra with another PP goal rounded out the scoring. Brett Anderson collected the Shutout, but could have had a nap between shots. The Islanders only got 1 shot in the 3rd period and it came in the final minute.
The Cougars outshot Kerry Park 49-12 overall. Frank was named player of the game for Victoria after collecting 4 points.
