Cougars Enter The Wolf Den

The Cougars and Wolves battled it out again last night. The Wolves ended the night with more shots on net, a better Power Play and the Cougars still managed to win.

Brandon McClintick and Bryce Irwin got the Cougars on the board with a 2-0 lead after 1. The first saw both teams trade chances but it was the Cougars who were able to solve Marleau. The 2nd period was a rough one for the Cougars. Only managing 7 shots on net total and gave up 2 power play goals against, both from Westhaver. Brown managed to pot his first of two goals though, and the Cougars lead 3-2 after 2.

The 3rd saw a lot of flip-flopping. Brown once again was apart of a goal sandwich. In the 2nd he split the two goals scored by Westhaver, in the 3rd he split the two goals scored by Parkhouse. The game was tied at 4 with about 7 minutes to go.

If you watched the game on HockeyTV you would have heard Bob Lind, the Wolves broadcaster, call foul near the end of the game. Evan Easton, on the power play with Ferrie in the box with an ill-timed penalty, floated over the blue line and ripped a shot over the the glove of Dalan Marleau. The issue the Wolves broadcaster had was a supposed missed off-side call. I re-watched the video a dozen times and there was no off-side at all.

Easton goal ended up being the game-winner as the Cougars extend their win streak to 3 and are now in 1st in the league with 2 games in hand over Peninsula.
