The Cougars travelled up to Comox with 2 AP’s in the lineup and Jackson Egan playing defence due to early season injuries.
The game started off with an early goal by the Glacier Kings when Tanner Roberts was able to squeeze on in on starter Noah Chambers. The Cougars and the Glacier Kings traded chances in the first with the Cougars outshooting Comox 12-8.
In the second the Cougars shook off the bus legs and took it hard to their opponent from the north outshooting them 15-5 and outscoring them 4-0. The Cougars first goal was the first of the season for blueliner Dylan Jessa. With the teams playing 4 on 4 it was Bryce Irwin who carried the puck into the Glacier Kings zone, went around behind the net and fed the puck to Jessa at the point who walked in to the high slot and wristed a hard shot top shelf blocker side to tie the game at 7:38 of the 2nd. Then on the PP Zach Guerra slid the puck to Cameron Lesergent who looked like he was going behind the net but instead fed Evan Easton at the edge of the crease and scored his 6th goal of the season at 9:28.
Then less than a minute later the Cougars were again on the PP and Guerra fed the puck to Hark Gill at the point. Gill slid the puck over to Trey Anderson on the side boards and Anderson took a hard wrist shot that Comox goalie Brandon Naidu got most of but it found the net at 10:09. The final goal of the period came at 14:46 when AP Mateo Pivetta took a pass from Desmond Arthurs off the faceoff and went high blocker side for his first goal of the season.
The final goal of the game was 14:43 of the third period and another first of the season for the Cougars. Jackson Egan took the puck from his end and passed to Arthurs who slid the puck Easton. Easton then slid the puck back to Arthurs who beat Naidu for his first goal of the season. The summary on the league website is incorrect but I do expect it to be corrected.
