The Cougars came into KPI on a high. After thumping the Braves 8-1 at home they wanted to continue their offensive dominance. They did just that.
They controlled most of the first period as they spent most of it on the power-play. The Islanders took several penalties, including two for head-contact. Nicholas Haisell, the Islanders keeper, faced 19 shots in the period. It wasn’t until the 18:43 mark that the Cougars finally solved him. Desmond Arhthurs collected his first as a Cougar, followed shortly by a Davis Frank marker, his third of the season. 2-0 after 1.
The penalty trouble for the winless Islanders continued in the second period. And the power-play finally clicked. Notching two PP goals in a row, Evan Easton collecting his third on the year and first PP goal. Davis Frank grabbed his second PP goal and fourth total goal. About 10 minutes later Trey Anderson snagged his first as a Cougar and the Cougars had a dominate 5-0 lead after 2.
Oren Louie finally put the Islanders on the board 5:36 into the third. Zach Guerra took it back 7 minutes later and restored the 5 goal lead on his third of the year. Colten Thompson grabbed a late one for KPI, but it was too little too late.
