Cougars Add Veteran Presence To The Blue Line

The Victoria Cougars would like to welcome Joey Petronack for the 2019-2020 season. The right handed defenceman, a native of Maplewood Minnesota, is a much needed veteran presence to help replenish the cougars backend. After losing 20 year olds Ewert, McBean and Okino, this is something Head Coach Suneil Karod spent time looking for.

“I’m very happy that Joey decided to sign with us,” said Karod. “We had some big holes to fill and I think Joey is a smart, smooth skating player that can immediately step in to play big minutes. He’s more than capable of running a power play and shutting down top lines. He’s a great addition.”

The 5’11” 175lbs Petronack spent three season in the Minnesota US High School league, which has been touted as one of the premier High School leagues in the country. In 95 games Petronack had 38 points with 50 PIMs. Last season was spent with the North Iowa Bulls in the NA3HL, where Petronack amassed 28 points in 38 games with 68 PIMs, and affiliated with the Steinbach Pistons of the MJHL, seeing action with them throughout the year.
