It ends at eight

The Cougars headed to Nanaimo on Thursday night the top team in the VIJHL, and on a hot streak. Eight in a row heading into the contest at the Pirate Ship. Out scoring their opponents 27-16 in that stretch.

The Bucs decided to play streak breakers. A hard fought battle that saw Owen Sikkes suffer his first loss in a Cougars uniform. The Cougars went 0-4 on the PP but still managed to out shoot the Bucs 33-30.

Both Nanaimo and Victoria have very similar looking teams. They both have Top goaltenders in the league (Wood, Dendl, and Sikkes in the top 5 for the VIJHL), they both have league leading scorers (Albinati, Zary, and Chacalias sit 1 2 3 in scoring.). Both of these teams are also looking to make the Storm go in the back door for the Cyclone Taylor cup next Spring. Solid defence, deadly scoring, and top goaltending make for a battle on the ice. This time the Buccaneers came out on top. The Cougars still have three more chances to get it back.

Another game on the road for Victoria this week, Comox on Saturday night, 730pm puck drop. The Cougars will look to start another streak and extend their league lead in the standings.

Next home game is next Thursday versus Westshore at the Arch. The first of back-to-back home games for Victoria. Thursday against Westshore, and Friday at home versus Kerry Park.
