Victoria won 7-3 last night against the dominant team from Campbell River. The last time the Cougars won against the Storm was March 30th, 2017. Last year the Cougars only managed a tie in 4 games and the year previous the Cougars fell in games 6 and 7 of the Playoff Championship series. Game 7 you may remember was a 4 OT thriller that stands as the longest game in VIJHL history to date.
Eight players had a 2 point game including the pair of Matt’s, Berryman and Clark, with 2 goals each. Mateo Albinati and Marshall Brown also had 2 points each, Booker Chacalias had 1 point, now those three sit 1,2,3 in the league scoring race.
The Cougars played their first game that showed that when their individual skill gels as a team, they are powerful. The power play continued to click, going 1 for 2, and controlling the play in both attempts. The next contest for Victoria is Thursday at home versus Westshore, a team that sits 7th in PK. If The Wolves get into penalty trouble they could also get into Cougars PP trouble.
Game time is 7pm at the Archie Browning Arena, and at VIJHL.hockeytv.com.Follow the Cougars on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram.
