Cougars move to 2-0 on the season

The Cougars won again, this time at the hands of the Islanders. The new dark sweaters are undefeated so far in VIJHL action afte the Cougars knocked off the Islanders on the road 6-2. Leading the charge on the score sheet was Mateo Albinati, collecting 4 points (1G 3A) and a total of 7 on the year so far to lead the league.

It was a lopsided affair for most of the night with the Cougars out shooting Kerry Park 41-17 and having 13 power play chances as the Islanders couldn’t stay out of the box.

Head Coach Suneil Karod had this to say after the contest,

“I thought we played a better game tonight, we lapsed in the second, but worked hard to control the third. We’re starting to see improvements in the areas that need to get better. The guys are working hard, they’re bought in and they’re willing to do the right things.”

The Cougars have a week off before their next game, which is Friday against Saanich. It will be a much tougher affair as the Braves are also 2-0 after defeating the same two teams as the Cougars in their first two games.

That game goes Friday, September 14 at 630pm. Pearkes Arena is located at  3100 Tillicum Road in Victoria.
