GOALIE SHINES BRIGHT FOR KERRY PARK

MILL BAY, B.C. – Chase Anderson stopped all 47 shots for his third shutout of the season and Ty Smith scored the game winner as the Kerry Park Islanders blanked the Victoria Cougars 2-0 on Tuesday night.

At 7:07 of the first period, Smith pinched in from the point and fired a quick shot past Patrick Ostermann.  Making a sweet pass from the corner was Brandon Wilson who snapped a seven game pointless drought.

Keenan Eddy iced the cake in the final few seconds of regulation with an empty net goal.

Victoria could not capitalize on the power play, finishing 0-for-5 which included squandering a five minute man advantage when Avery Nielsen-Webb was ejected from the game for fighting.

Ostermann made 21 saves in the loss.

Kerry Park was held without a power play opportunity.

Cameron Welch made his debut for the Cougars after being acquired a day ago from the Osoyoos Coyotes of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.

Next game for Victoria is Thursday, January 11 versus the Peninsula Panthers.  Game time at Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
